Tokyo, Japan – WAITINGROOM is pleased to announce a group exhibition “WORKS ON PAPER” as a joint project with “OIL by BT” through July 6th to the 28th 2019. This is a special exhibition of works on paper created by four artists, Rikako Kawauchi, Yuichi Hirako, Naho Kawabe, and Rui Mizuki, each with a different approach to “paper”, and will be held in conjunction with the gallery space and the Bijutsu Techo’s e-commerce site, OIL by BT. All the works to be exhibited will be displayed at “OIL by BT” and the works will be sold online only. When a work is sold, another work will be displayed in the gallery space, and at the same time, a new work will be added to “OIL by BT,” so that the exhibition and online activities will be synchronized. The exhibition is an experimental way of proposing “the experience of buying art” from both the gallery and online, by updating the content of the exhibition according to online sales, which is not a traditional gallery exhibition format. We hope to create an opportunity to visit a gallery for art fans who have never been to a gallery before, and for gallery visitors to have an opportunity to view and purchase works online.
